History

The University, formerly known as Shih Chien College of Home Economics was founded in March 1958 by Mr. Tung-Min Shieh. The following years saw gradual expansion and development leading to the school being upgraded to "Shih Chien University in August 1997".

The University is comprised of three colleges, The College of Human Ecology, The College of Management and The College of Design, which run both undergraduate and graduate programs. The Taipei campus has a current enrollment of 10,000 students.

The Kaohsiung Campus

The Kaohsiung Campus was opened in August 1995 with an initial intake of students in the two-year undergraduate program. The following years saw rapid expansion culminating in the establishment in August 2001 of the College of Management with eight departments runing both four-year and two-year undergraduate programs.
Student enrollment for the Kaohsiung Campus has now reached 5,000.
