Honor Elite Class, Shih-Chien University, Kaohsiung Campus By Ida Chuang
There will be established the Honor Elite Class(精英會) in Shih-Chien University Kaohsiung Campus this semester. Do you wonder what the Honor Elite Class is? It is due to the university Vice President’s striving for it and sparing no efforts for a long period that at last the Honor Elite Class will be organized. It is said that the road to happiness is strewn with setbacks and challenges, and this class offers a great many intellectual challenges.
Furthermore, the Honor Elite Class does benefit our students and school. First, the members of it are awarded badge and insignia. They stand for extraordinary glory and everyone can immediately identify that you are the member of the Honor Elite Class. Second, when you are at your commencement, you can appear on the stage and be commended by our school. I believe you will never forget that you have been a member of it. In addition, all training and instruction on international relations and foreign practices is free. It will increase your fluency in English, sharpen your analytical thinking and make you gifted in many ways. Last but not least, you have priority on behalf of our school to go abroad to call on and receive foreign visitors, and attend the symposiums that our school or the Honor Elite Class holds. Of course, there are still other worthy things not mentioned above and they need to be discovered bit by bit as the class unfolds.
However, the Honor Elite Class strictly screens members. Membership depends on whether students are in the top 10% of their class in the last semester or have a grade point average (GPA) that exceeded 80 school grades in two continuous semesters. Your behavior grades must be at least 82, you cannot commit any infractions, and you cannot have a record of cutting class. Moreover, your tutor or the head of your department must recommend you. Finally you have to pass the exam held by the Honor Elite Class, including exams in English and history. This semester, there are 27 students meeting these conditions. Consequently, you can see that they are outstanding!
Afterwards, they will take classes in English, international practices and protocols, and the History and Culture of China and Europe and the world, and so on. The classes are diverse and abundant. Furthermore, the Honor Elite Class will invite the President to give a lesson one day. Actually, our school thinks highly of these classes and does almost everything to commend them. Everyone in our school expects them to be an enriching experience. They will play an important role in our relations with our sister schools!
